ABOUT THE BLOG

How it all began

Lawyer, journalist, storyteller, observer. I believe in love, smiles & literary birds; mockingbirds or woodpeckers.
Few things you need to know about me. As my huge last name implies, I am greek! At my place there is always music on –personal favorites: Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Pink Floyd-. I always cry when watching a dramatic film. I talk about fictional characters from my favorite books as if they were actual friends of mine. In my room one can find my favorite articles from the Guardian lying around.
In 2018 I got accepted for an LL.M. at the University of California, Berkeley. I decided to apply for a Fulbright scholarship and luckily I got it. So, my journey begins! A single gal from Greece quits her job and moves to San Fran for a year, just to get a glimpse of the american dream.
Leaving everything behind is not easy. Moving to the other end of the world is quite frightening to say the least. Hence the idea of starting a travel journal, a blog where I would document every step of the way, or actually, every step of my way. Maybe it will comfort me, or maybe it will be used as a guide for others. Maybe it will help me explain all these new experiences that will probably seem quite... Greek to me. In any case, I invite you to embark on this adventure with me and share my stories.
If you are about to begin writing a different chapter in your own story, remember the words of my beloved F. Scott Fitzgerald: “For what it’s worth... it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again”.
